I don’t know about “hipster” but one of my favorite musicals is The Last 5 Years. Idk how popular/obscure it is, but I love it!

I would consider it like half way between hipster and mainstream. It’s not a musical everyone knows, but if you’re in the music theatre fandom, if you’re in the loop of musicals, you know it.

Yeah. Half the time I say The Last 5 Years to theatre people and they look at me funny.

But soon to become even more mainstream for everyone because I just read they are making it into a film starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan. All of my lovely followers should look into this musical because it is pretty cool in it’s structure as well as beautifully written and scored.
